Vasari Singers have long had a relationship with our patron, Gabriel Jackson, who is one of this country’s foremost composers of sacred choral music. We commissioned this beautiful and powerful work from him in 2008 and our CD was released three years later. It draws on texts from the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass as well as setting words on love and loss from writers ranging from the sixteenth-century Japanese poet Hôjô Ujimasa to the twentieth-century Indian mystic Rabindranath Tagore.
