Vasari 2010 – 30th Anniversary Season
2010 sees the choir mark it’s 30th anniversary with a season of concerts of Choral Masterworks, with repertoire including music by Vaughan Williams, Hubert Parry, Benjamin Britten, Gabriel Jackson, Marcel Durufle and JS Bach.
Concerts confirmed include performances at St Mary’s Redbourn in March, St Martin in the Fields, London in June, and Canterbury Cathedral in July. Further dates in the autumn will follow.
The centrepiece of the year will be a performance of JS Bach’s B Minor Mass, at St Martin in the Fields, with top soloists including Lucy Crowe, Claire Seaton, Michael Chance, James Gilchrist and Peter Harvey.
Also as part of the year will be a “Come and Sing” day in March with the choir, giving you the opportunity to sing through the choral sections of the B Minor Mass.

Vasari’s Songs of Farewell CD still the best recording?
December’s BBC Music Magazine contains a review of a new recording of theSongs of Farewell, by Hubert Parry. In the closing summary, Terry Blain concludes:
‘the Vasari Singers’s version of Songs of Farewell (on Guild) is probably still the out-and-out market leader.’

Christmas schedule
December is traditionally a busy period for the choir and 2009 is no exception, with four Christmas concerts in London next month on 1, 4, 9 and 18 December. The final date is Vasari’s own promoted event at the Actor’s Church, Covent Garden, where we will return for the 5th year running. We look forward to seeing you at one or more concerts this December!

All Saints Service, St Luke’s Battersea
The choir is delighted to be singing the All Saints Service at our home church, St Luke’s, Battersea, on Sunday 1 November. The music will include Faure’s Requiem. The choir is extremely grateful to St Luke’s for the continued use of the church as a rehearsal venue.

Unfortunately the auditions request form has had a technical fault. This has now been fixed, but if you’ve applied to join the choir in the last few weeks and haven’t yet had a response, please try again, it is now working!

Vasari to appear live on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune
On Wednesday 30 September, the choir will again return to BBC Radio 3 for a live appearance on In Tune. Featuring several live performances from our forthcoming Total Bach concert and an interview with our Music Director Jeremy Backhouse, tune in from 5pm to hear the slot.

New Vasari Singers website launched
The choir is pleased to unveil the new Vasari Singers website, completely re-worked and re-designed.
The site includes new web 2.0 features including the “Share This” function, allowing you to post pages to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon and others. To use this feature, click on the Share This button at the bottom right of each page.
We’ve made the site easier to buy our CDs online on the Buy CDs page. Using Googlecheckouts you can purchase CDs without needing an account, just a valid credit card.
We’ve added photo galleries, and made it easier for visitors to join the choir’s mailing list, and for singers to ask for an audition.
We’ll also be updating the site regularly with Videos on our latest concerts and CDs.
