Italian summer; a mix of sacred and secular songs
St Paul’s Covent Garden,WC2E 9ED, London Friday 17 June 2011, 7.30pm
This summer, Vasari Singers will be celebrating the 500th Anniversary of Giorgio Vasari (1611-2011). The famous painter, architect and writer was born in Arezzo in Tuscany on July 30 1611 and the choir will be visiting and singing in the towns and churches where he lived and worked including the famous Vasari Corridor in Florence. Join us in our post-tour concert for a selection of the choir’s favourite a capella music. Italian composers Monteverdi, Pizzetti and Lotti alongside a showcase of contemporary British composers – Gabriel Jackson, Will Todd and John Rutter – and the more contemplative music of Maurice Durufle and CV Stanford. And of course, a Vasari Singers concert would not be complete without a sprinkling of jazz arrangements to end the evening!
