Concert Details

Our summer concert this year on Sunday 24th June will raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity close to the hearts of a number of our choir members.

The main work is Malcolm Archer’s beautiful Vespers accompanied by strings, harp and percussion. The tenor soloist will be Adam Tunnicliffe, whom we are delighted to work with again after his stunning performances in our Rachmaninov All-night vigil recording and concert. The programme opens with two pieces by the exciting Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, who is currently taking the British choral scene by storm with his fresh and accessible music. There is a lighter theme to the second half with Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare by the great jazz musician George Shearing, accompanied by piano and double bass. This is followed by a selection of the choir’s favourites including pieces and arrangements by George Gershwin, Ward Swingle and Jonathan Rathbone. A concert not to be missed in a very worthy cause.

Sunday 24 June, 7pm (note earlier time) in St Luke’s Battersea; tickets costing £15 are available now from www.slms.org.uk OR 07951 791619 or by post: St Luke’s Concert Series, St Luke’s Community Hall, 194 Ramsden Road, London SW12 8RQ or in person from the Northcote Music Shop, 155c Northcote Road, London, SW11 6QB.
