Concert Details
Walter Hussey (1909–1985) was a prominent Anglican priest and influential arts patron who believed in uniting the Church and artistic excellence. As Vicar of St Matthew’s, Northampton, and later Dean of Chichester Cathedral, he commissioned major works from leading 20th-century artists and composers such as Britten, Moore, Chagall, and Bernstein. His efforts transformed both institutions into cultural landmarks, leaving a lasting legacy in British sacred art and music. To mark the 40th anniversary of his death, the Vasari Singers will perform a concert featuring music he commissioned, with commentary and visuals presented by Sir Richard Stilgoe.Works by Finzi, Bernstein, Britten and Kenneth Leighton
